Automobile contributor Andy Pilgrim is an accomplished professional race driver, with 65 wins and five championships to his credit. His career highlights include winning the 12 Hours of Sebring, Rolex 24 at Daytona, Petit Le Mans, and five podium finishes in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This season he drives a Porsche 911 GT3 R in select events in the IMSA Weathertech SportsCar Championship.
We sent Pilgrim to test the new 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport on the 2.0-mile Atlanta Motorsports Park road course, and to say our driver and the Grand Sport were quick is an understatement. Pilgrim's best lap, seen at top, was 1:23.63. To put the time in context, Chevrolet two days previously put Corvette Racing IMSA star Oliver Gavin in a Grand Sport at the same track. Gavin's best lap, seen below: 1:24.78.
